Amit graduated from Cornell University in 1999 with a BS in Human Environment Relations. His studies focused on the various ways that people respond emotionally to their structured physical environments, also known as “The Psychology of Architecture”. This course of study, coupled with his early immersion in online marketing & search engine
optimization, allowed Amit to develop a keen intuition about how people respond emotionally to virtual environments.
In 2000 Amit headed the streaming video & audio department at a company called MusicVision. During these 18 months, he benefitted from a mountain-peak perspective of the early dot com days. While figuring out how to track & measure streaming ads, he realized there was unused ad inventory and brokered a deal between GoTo (the original Pay-Per-Click network) and MusicVision to introduce PPC to the MusicVision network, opening up a new source of income based on existing assets. During this same period, he built his first two online businesses, one selling thermal underwear and the other selling
gourmet seafood. He travelled around the country connecting with other innovators in the space to learn methods and techniques for making those two businesses successful.
In September 2001, Amit enrolled in NYU’s Interactive Telecommunication Program (ITP), one of the leading epicenters of the current microprocessor-based DIY movement. During his time at ITP, Amit focused on expanding his understanding of programming and working with microprocessors. Further, he co-authored a ‘disguised fiction’ site called The Dog Island, which became a massive cultural destination.
Soon after receiving his Master’s degree from ITP in 2003, he founded SavyStudio providing a wide range of web development & internet marketing services. He entered new markets online, generated traffic, increased conversions, built sites, and formed various types of relationships from fee-based to performance-based. One market of note was the automated external defibrillators (AED) business, in which he built up a network of suppliers and customers leveraging the web to generate interest from both. In order to ensure his success he attended the American Heart Association conference in New Orleans in order to meet the top reps from each of the AED manufacturers.
In 2005 Amit entered a new realm and began packaging SavyStudio’s software tools for sale. After putting out a series of marketing software products, he partnered with two others to build a monthly membership program called Traffic Domination. This membership program gave customers access to an integrated suite of online-based tools. At its height in late 2006, Traffic Domination had just under 500 monthly subscribers.
In 2007 Amit became a partner and marketing director at K+L, a design agency based in NYC. Amit continues to service his clients through both SavyStudio and K+L. He has become the trusted advisor to many well-respected companies, acting in a strategic role for all with a range in responsibilities across the board.
